How it all started...
The Calvary Chapel Family of churches began in the late 1960s as a small non-denominational church of 25 people pastored by Chuck Smith in Costa Mesa, California. Fast Forward to a Calvary church plant located in Downey, California in February of 1991 and that is where our story begins...
Pastor Ed walked into a midweek service at Calvary Downey as a complete wreck, fully lost, and in need of his eventual Savior, Jesus Christ. After sitting in the back of the sanctuary and listening to Pastor Jeff Johnson's message, Ed was moved to respond to the invitation to follow Jesus and accepted Him as his Savior that night.
Ed spent the next eight years learning, growing, and serving at Calvary Chapel Downey. In July of 1999, sensing the call of God, Ed and his family moved to the Denver area hoping to be used by God in the planting of a new Calvary Chapel church. In December 1999, Calvary Church began Sunday services in Aurora, CO at Columbia Middle School.

Expanding the vision...
Calvary Church would continue to meet in Columbia Middle School for the next seven years. The Lord moved in many ways from seeing people come to salvation to new families being formed. God used this middle school and gave the church blessed memories from their time in that location.
Starting in 2006, the desire to build a new facility to house the church family was alive and well, land was purchased and the prayers began. In 2007, Calvary Church completed construction on their current location and would later expand it in 2010.
While the church began to thrive in the new facility, God planted a seed for another step of faith, this step would be in the world of radio.
GraceFM was established in December of 2010. The Church's heart for this station was to meet Colorado's need for 24/7 worship and bible study. It now covers almost 80% of Colorado's population with Worship and the Word. Calvary Church also launched the Refresh Conference, which was established to encourage the region's ministry servants.

Where we are headed...
Calvary Church continues to thrive and expand the ministry God has entrusted to it. In addition to the many care ministries offered, Calvary Church also provides many resources to not only the local community but also to the greater Church body.
Some of those resources outside of the GraceFM Radio Network, are their School of Ministry, Regional Refresh Conference, Abounding Grace Radio Program, Calvary LIVE, and Regional Pastor's & Pastors Wives Gatherings.
Calvary Church is still very much alive and on mission to reach the world with the Gospel. Looking forward to what God may have for this church community in the future, Calvary is currently praying for more land in order to expand the ministry God has given them, praying to expand GraceFM to cover more mountain towns and southern Colorado, as well as, how God may use them on a greater international scale in regards to missions.
If any of Calvary Church's story inspires you, pray about how God may be calling you to join this church community on its mission to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus. If you are local to Colorado, consider a visit and let us know you are coming! If you happen to be outside of Colorado, join us online and plan an eventual visit, possibly our next Refresh Conference?
With everything that has been said, Calvary Church is very excited for not only where God has taken it but also for where God is currently taking it to accomplish His heart and His Mission to WIN, DISCIPLE, and SEND.
