important update from Pastor Ed

Hello Church Family,

I want to reach out and update you on some of the changes taking place here at Calvary Church after the recent announcements from our Federal and state governments today.

Personally I pray the Lord is strengthening you and encouraging you in these very difficult and trying times.  The ministry teams here are praying for you and we appreciate your prayers for us! God is hearing and answering them!

Psalm 91:1–2 (NLT) “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the LORD: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him.”

This last weekend we held our first ever ALL ONLINE weekend services.  If you were unable to join us, here is a link to the archive: https://subsplash.com/calvaryaurora/media/mi/+kkqq8ym

They were glorious and I was encouraged by the many pictures you posted of your worship gatherings in your homes. It was so cool.  I know it’s different than normal and we are all very eager to get back to normal, but our love for our neighbor, our desire to be flexible and our willingness to worship Jesus wherever we are is well pleasing to Him!

Here is some new information as of Monday 3/16/2020:

FOR THE NEXT THREE WEEKS:

1.Our pastors ARE AVAILABLE & OFFICES ARE OPEN! (303) 628-7200
2.We will continue to hold ONLINE ONLY WEEKEND services:
https://calvaryco.live
3.Our Wednesday night services are postponed.
4.All small group ministries gathering at the church are postponed.

While we are having to make these temporary changes, as we remain open to the Holy Spirit, He will lead us in how He wants to use us in these trying times.  This is our investment to be a help and aid to the solution of halting the spread of this deadly virus.  Our goal is always to protect the safety, health, and wellness of our fellowship family as well as those in our neighborhood. I believe this is honoring to Jesus!

Matthew 22:37–40 (NLT) “Jesus replied, “ ‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

If you need prayer please call or email us. We are ready to encourage and serve you!

Psalm 118:5–6 (NLT) “In my distress I prayed to the LORD, and the LORD answered me and set me free. The LORD is for me, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”

We need to hear and receive God’s Word more than ever before. It’s through His Word we receive strength, comfort, and steady encouragement. God is bigger than the coronavirus. We praise God for technology.

REMEMBER, our offices are OPEN and pastors are available to pray and serve you. You can email them through https://calvaryco.church/leadership or call (303) 628-7200

update from pastor ed

Hello Church, both near and far…
Our pastor, Chuck Smith, taught us this simple truth, “Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be broken.” It’s true. If there were ever times that required flexibility, it’s now.  Our theme for 2020 is “Into Faith We Go” and already God is calling upon us to live by and respond by faith!

The spread of the coronavirus has caused major disruptions, changes, and as one media outlet called it, “forced new realities”. It’s also stirred up new fears, anxieties, and even widespread panic. But one thing has not changed, the sovereignty of God. He is still on the throne.  This is the time, this is the year, to arise as a Church scattered to help those in need.  We may temporarily not be able to meet as the “Church gathered”, but we are the Church exactly where the Lord wants us!
Our Executive leadership team has been monitoring the latest information concerning the pandemic.  Today, our Governor in Colorado has sent out a new directive ordering limitations on gatherings of more than 250 people. Because of this, all of Calvary Church’s services this weekend will be online (Saturday 6pm, Sunday 8:45am & 10:45am), live from the sanctuary at www.calvaryco.church, and broadcast live on our radio network GRACEfm www.gracefm.com
(Now would be a good time to download our FREE APP https://get.theapp.co/ae5e and TURN ON NOTIFICATIONS)
Our Wednesday night service will be on hold.
We need to hear and receive God’s Word more than ever before. It’s through His Word we receive strength, comfort, and steady encouragement. God is bigger than the coronavirus. We praise God for technology.
Join us this weekend from your homes. This is an opportune time to connect the gospel with people in your life. Let your friends, neighbors, and co-workers know that you’re having church services in your home and invite them in.  Post our online services on your social media outlets and let’s join together as the family of God and be a resource of hope in our local communities.
GOOD NEWS: All ministries throughout the week at Calvary ARE STILL ON. We are continuing to gather together for men’s, women’s, and other small groups at the church building. If this changes, we will let you know.  (Our Wednesday night service will be on hold.) Our church offices will remain open and pastors will available to serve you as unto the Lord!

Our goal is always to protect the safety, health, and wellness of our students, staff and church families. Amid the uncertainty and fear that this pandemic brings, our strength as a community is our greatest asset. We can work together to protect each other and slow the progression of COVID-19.  We thank you for your support and partnership in this effort.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

PSALM 112:7

update from pastor ed

With the heightened awareness and deep public concerns regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), I want to let you know that we are carefully monitoring the situation, CDC updates, and government response and recommendations.

While we as a church family and Christian school have always cared about each other’s health, I want to reaffirm that commitment today.  The joy of being a part of a local church family is the mutual love and concern for each other. This is such a time!

Around the building, we have added practical measures of cleanliness and care. We are committed to being as proactive as possible to create safe and clean environments for us to worship in. We’ve always been very intentional in this commitment and now, more than ever before. All common areas are regularly cleaned and disinfected, especially our Children Ministry and Youth Ministry spaces, using hospital-grade cleaners to dust and disinfect handles, restrooms, tables, chairs, etc. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building.  We are exploring other areas to continually add to our cleaning efforts.
Until it’s simply not possible, we will be joining together for worship at our regularly scheduled services.

Here's some of what you can do:

  • Greet one another with a smile and a simple "hello."
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least twenty seconds, about how long it takes to sing the ABCs.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (at least 60 percent alcohol) if soap and water are not available.
  • Limit contact with those who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • If you or your children are not feeling well or are sick, stay home and enjoy our worship services online at calvaryco.church on Wednesdays 7pm and Saturdays at 6:00 pm and Sundays at 8:45 & 10:45.  You can also listen to our services live on GRACEfm 89.7fm Saturdays at 6pm, & Sundays at 10:45am.
  • Be understanding and supportive when others need to stay home.
We also encourage you to pray for the parts of the world that have been hit particularly hard by this virus, and that God would lead researchers to find a treatment for it as soon as possible.  Many families have suffered great hardship and even loss because of this virus. Please don’t forget them.

This is a real opportunity to be ready to serve our neighbor in love, care, and compassion.

You are loved.
You are family.
